World Food Day
World Food Day is celebrated on October 16 to commemorate the anniversary of the creation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). FAO was crated in 1945 to defeat hunger. Its has a Latin motto, Fiat panis, which is translated as “Let there be bread”.
Its goal is to achieve food security for all, while ensuring regular access to sufficient and good quality food to lead an active and healthy life.
FAO shows that in recent years fast food has largely displaced household food and not only that, it has also replaced important ingredients such as fruits and vegetables, with flour, sugar, fats and salt.
This reality, added to the sedentary lifestyle typical of the professions available in large cities, has resulted in poor diet being the main cause of death and disability today.
How to eat a healthy diet?
The first thing is to bet on meals like at home and help local producers to continue generating vegetables, fruits and vegetables, really rich in vitamins and minerals.
